Students will learn the significance behind familiar Rosh Hashanah traditions through a camera-style craft, with a supporting worksheet that provides additional background. As they complete the activity, students will discover why apples are dipped in honey, why challah is round instead of braided, what pomegranates symbolize, why the shofar is sounded, why saying sorry is part of preparing for the new year, and what it means to wish someone Shana Tova.
 
The project begins with an illustrated Snapshots of Rosh Hashanah worksheet that explains each tradition in kid-friendly language. From there, the class will create a camera craft made from two connected photo strips. Each frame includes a short caption that reinforces the meaning behind the holiday.
 
Two craft templates are included. One version provides illustrations to color, while the second includes blank picture frames for drawing an original interpretation of each Rosh Hashanah tradition. Both versions include the camera template, two photo strips, captions, and assembly instructions.
 
Once complete, display them on your classroom's bulletin board or sent home as a holiday keepsake.
