Why does Hanukkah fall on different dates every year? And why do Hebrew birthdays seem to move around the calendar?
The Jewish Holiday Calendar Wheel is a simple craft that helps solve the mystery by helping students visualize the connection between the Jewish calendar and the one they use every day, while learning the names of the Hebrew months and the annual cycle of Jewish holidays.
Once complete, the calendar wheel can be laminated and turned into a magnet, creating a practical home reference tool and keepsake that students and families can use year-round.
An introductory student handout is also provided to give context before students begin. Reinforcement worksheets extend the learning and include a Hebrew months coloring activity, a word search, a crossword puzzle.
The resource includes two versions of the calendar wheel: one with Hebrew text and the other written in transliteration, allowing teachers to choose the version that best fits their students. The calendar reflects standard years and does not account for leap years.
