This fourteen-page booklet introduces students to life on a kibbutz and how these communities helped shape modern Israel. Students will learn what it was like to share resources, take on communal jobs, and grow up in a children's house rather than living with their own families. They will also understand how kibbutzim contributed to Israel's agricultural growth and to building cooperative communities.
 
The booklet also comes with a built-in activity in which students will apply what they have learned by designing a map of their own kibbutz. A guided planning page walks them through the kibbutz's decision-making, such as which community spaces and children's houses to include, which types of businesses and jobs to offer, and what recreational amenities to add.
 
After completing their maps, students can present their designs, explain their choices, and compare how their classmates organized their kibbutzim.
 
Assembly is simple. Print and fold the booklet, and add colored pencils. No cutting or glue required.
